Why a tradesperson, not a web agency
I know you don't answer the phone up a ladder, that half your enquiries are tyre-kickers, and that a photo of the job saves a wasted trip. Every site is built around that.
| Do it yourself (Wix, Squarespace) | Typical web agency | Signwrite | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cost to set up | Your evenings | €1,500 to €6,000 | €400 |
| Monthly | €17 to €40, plus your time | €35 to €200 | €30, changes included |
| Built for trades | Generic templates | Sometimes | Only trades |
| Quote form with photos | Extra setup | Often extra | Included |
| Who you deal with | Nobody | An account manager | A tradesperson, direct |
| Live in | When you get round to it | 4 to 8 weeks | 7 days |

Built by a sparky
I'm Charlie, an electrician based near Enfield, Co. Meath. I'm qualified in domestic, commercial, solar, EV and fire alarm work, and I'm studying engineering.
I started building websites for friends in the trade who were busy, well reviewed and invisible online. You deal with me directly, from the first call to launch and after.
Questions
Do I own the website?
Yes. The domain is registered in your name, and the site is yours once it's paid for. If you cancel the monthly plan, I send you the files and help you move it.
Why is it cheaper than an agency?
I only build trade websites, from a template I keep improving, so a site takes hours, not weeks. You're not paying for an office or an account manager.
What do you need from me?
Photos of your work (phone photos are fine), your services, the towns you cover, your best Google reviews and your logo if you have one.
Can I change the colours and layout?
Yes. The samples are starting points. Colours, fonts, sections and wording all change to suit your business.
Will I be on the first page of Google?
Every site is set up properly for Google, with your trade and towns in the right places. Nobody can honestly promise a ranking, and I won't.
Is there a contract?
No. The monthly plan runs month to month and you can cancel with 30 days' notice.
Can I use the Trading Online Voucher?
Usually not for a standard trade site, since the voucher is aimed at online sales or bookings. If you want online booking, ask your Local Enterprise Office before we start.
Request a callback
Leave your number and a good time to ring. I'll call you back, usually the same day, and send you a sample site with your name on it. No obligation.
